5m Digital Terrain Data is produced from aerial photography in the form of a regular grid of points at 5m intervals with +/- 1.5m vertical accuracy. Each point has X, Y, and Z coordinates in British National Grid represented as 6 + 2 digits that gives theoretical positioning precision of 0.01m. For example 530875,00 (X), 189355.00 (Y), 23.51(Z).
 
The full advantage of the 5m height data can be seen when mixed with different sorts of data covering the same area, for instance:
